Your Sandbox for Agentic Innovation
To truly master agentic engineering with Cursor, you need more than just a code editor; you need a living, breathing Salesforce environment. While a standard Developer Edition org might suffice for simple Apex, the Simple Demo Org (SDO) is the preferred choice for Solution Engineers. It provides a rich tapestry of pre-configured data, complex schemas, and business logic that serves as the perfect 'context' for your AI agents to analyze and interact with.
For this workshop, we will utilize the Storm App in Slack to provision our environment. The SDO is our validated baseline for this curriculum, ensuring that the metadata Cursor interacts with is consistent across all participants. By using a robust demo environment, you enable Cursor to perform more advanced tasks—such as troubleshooting existing flows or extending complex data models—that would be impossible in a blank org.
The Provisioning Lifecycle
The process follows a specific three-step handshake to ensure security and administrative access:
Provisioning: Requesting the instance via the internal Slack infrastructure.
Verification: Confirming your identity via an automated email handshake to take ownership of the admin user.
Securing: Finalizing your credentials so that the Salesforce CLI can maintain a persistent connection for Cursor's deployment tasks.
